Rhodes Named MPS Assistant Superintendent for SY2024/25

McPherson, Kansas (April 8, 2024) McPherson Public Schools is pleased to announce that Mr. Ty Rhodes will serve as Assistant Superintendent of McPherson Public Schools effective July 1, 2024.


When asked what he looks forward to, Mr. Rhodes shared the following: “McPherson is a community and school system that has achieved a tremendous amount of success in all areas. I am looking forward to joining an incredibly strong leadership team and finding new opportunities for growth, both individually and for the system.”

Mr. Rhodes comes from Hesston High School, where he has served as Principal for the past 11 years.  Prior to the principalship, he served as Activities Director and Assistant Principal for Hesston High School. Under his leadership, Hesston has received a significant state-level recognition through the Kansas Star Award Program presented by the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) each year: 


  • 2023 - Gold Awards (highest level) for Graduation Rate & Postsecondary Success 
  • 2022 - Gold Awards (highest level) for Graduation Rate & Postsecondary Success 
  • 2021 - Silver Award for Graduation Rate and Gold Award Postsecondary Success
  • 2020 - Gold Awards (highest level) for Graduation Rate & Postsecondary Success 
  • 2019 - Silver Awards for Graduation Rate and Postsecondary Success

Additionally, each of the past three years, Hesston has received the Kansas Commissioner Award which recognizes districts that outperform their predicted postsecondary effectiveness rate above a 0.40 standard deviation. This is the most prestigious recognition a school district can receive through the Kansas Star Recognition Program.
